Enterprise field

S

Stephane Guerin

I would like the Timesheet view to display some enterprise project field. I
added a Custom enterprise project field in the Enterprise Global. When I
want to customize the timesheet view, I see only the Enterprise Task field.
Is there a way to assign a custom field to a whole project and see it in the
TimeSheet view. (I'm only trying to display our interface project number so
our account department can see them).

Thank you!

Yes, you can do this, but you must create a custom enterprise task field to
capture the value in the enterprise custom project field. Here's how:

1. Open the Enterprise Global file for editing
2. Click Tools - Customize - Enterprise Fields
3. Select the Task option and then select the same field Type used for the
project field
4. Select an available field and rename it to something like "Project ID"
5. Click the Formula button
6. Enter a formula in the field similar to the following:

[Enterprise Project XXX] where XXX represents the project field

For example, I defined the enterprise project Text2 field as the ID Number
field for the project. Therefore, to create a matching task field, I
entered the following formula in the enterprise task Text2 field:

[Enterprise Project Text2]

7. Click OK and then click OK
8. Save and close the Enteprise Global file
9. Exit and relaunch Microsoft Project Professional

After you have created the custom task field, you will need to add it to the
list of published fields in every project in the system using the following
steps:

1. Open a project
2. Click Tools - Customize - Published Fields
3. Select your new task field and copy it to the right
4. Deselect the "Let resource change field" option, if necessary
5. Click OK
6. Click Collaborate - Publish - Republish Assignments and then click OK
7. Repeat steps 1-6 for every project in your database

You MUST perform step #6 to "push" the contents of the new task field to the
Timesheet view in PWA. Beyond this, you should also customize the Timesheet
view to include the new custom enterprise task field. Hope this helps.
