Enterprise fields being saved to stand alone files

I was under the impression that when I save an enterprise schedule
that contains enterprise fields as a standalone .mpp file, that the
contents of those enterprise fields are saved in the .mpp file and can
be viewed from MS Project without being connected to the server. We
are using Project and Project Server 2007.
