***enterprise fields not carrying name over to project server***

I added a text enterprise field -- but for some reason when i add it to a
view in the project center instead of it coming up as the name i gave it i'm
getting "enterprise text field 35" for an example. Also why is it that when
you take away a field that was populated with data at one point like
enterprise text field 9 and then rename it -- it still brings over the old
data even when you restrict the values to a value list? is there a way to
clear the old data in an enterprise field when choosing to use it as another
without going into each project?

Thanks,

Erin

Erin:

Are you using SQL Server 2005 by chance? If so, there seems to be an issue
with the display of custom field names. We don't have a specific fix for
this from Microsoft yet. The best way to remove an Enterprise custom field
is to open the Global and delete it using the organizer. This will delete
all the values for the field for all projects.

Gary,

Thanks for the repsonse. I will have to check to see if i'm on '05 but i
believe we are. this issues just arose though - we didn't have that problem
with teh other 33 enterprise text fields i've created? And the values come
through on them if i restrict it to a value list --- but when i try to add
that field to a view is when i see "enterprise text 35" instead of
"multi-year project" [which is what i named it]

do you know of anything that could of caused this?

Thanks,

E

Hi Gary,
I, too, need to delete an enterprise field (Enterprise Project
Number1). I followed your instructions, however when I look at the
table MSP_VIEW_PROJ_PROJECTS_ENT in Query Analyzer (SQL 2000), the data
is still there. Did I miss something?

Thanks,
Kathy

Has the system rebuilt the OLAP cube since you deleted the custom enterprise
Project field? If not, the information should disappear on the next
rebuild. Let us know if this helps.

The OLAP cube will rebuild tonight (8/28). I'll check the cube
tomorrow morning and the database to verify the data has been deleted.
Thanks.

Thanks.

I have a similar issue...I am using SQL Server 2005...what is the
alternative? I also do not have an OLAP cube setup yet as I only have a
mock-up epm version setup on my laptop to demo to senior management before we
get a third party in to deploy properly.
