Enterprise fields & security

Steve

Does anyone have any techniques for controlling access to specific enterprise
fields using security? There is a strong need to only allow the PMO to edit
certain fields.

thanks

Steve,

Unfortunately with Project Server 2003 you will not be able to controll
permissions for enterprise fields. Item level security will only be possible
in Project Server 2007.

Sorry for the bad news...

Steve --

You can't control security to specific fields using any of the default or
custom features of Project Server. This is strictly a training and
performance issue. Train your PM's not to edit those "hands off" fields and
then hold them accountable for their performance in this area. Hope this
helps.

Steve:

The best way to overcome this is to set a trigger in the database. The
second best way might be to create a macro to do the validation, but this
would be less reliable.

Thanks Marc!
Does security permission works in Project Server 2007 Beta 2 TR?
I want to deny the Project Manager's group to edit enterprise text field.
I create new security categories for PM, set fields permissions and remove
PM from My Projects, My Personal Projects and My Organization categories.

But PM still can edit files in PWA or Project Prof. Is it beta issue?
