Enterprise Global - Not Retaining Settings

I attempted to update Tools - Options and change the calculation mode from
manual to automatic on the enterprise global. Unfortunately when I attempt to
create a new project from the enterprise global or when I open the enterprise
global again the settings reverts back to manual. Any ideas why this is
happening?

hi chicagohunter,

the options are not maintained in the enterprise global. Only views, tables
etc are maintained in the global template. Each desktop of MS Project needs
to be either set manually or you can deploy a so called "security template"
which would set the options for a user ( which will only work if you have a
roming profile). I know that seems a little confusing, but at this stage the
options cannot be set via the global template.
Hope this helps

One thing I did notice is that if a project plan is created from a template
that had the setting listed as manual initially and you change it to
automatic on the project plan, save and publish the setting is not retained.
Is there a reason for this?

CH:

On the various tabs in the Options dialog, note that some sections are
labeled "....options for Microsoft Project" and some are labeled
"...options for <named> Project," and some tabs contain both of these
groups. The options that apply to named projects can be set in a template.
The options that govern the application behavior cannot be saved in a
project template as they apply only to the local copy of the Project client.
Hope this makes it more understandable.

There is also that nasty little button in the bottom right, Set as Default,
make sure you smack that when making changes you want to stick.
