Enterprise Global vs. Project Global

Would someone please explain the main differences between these two templates?
Are they different layers somehow in Project?
Thank You

Hi,

The Project Global file holds all local template copies of your Views,
Tables, Filters etc (See Tools, Organizer). The Enterprise Global holds all
Views, Tables, Filters Etc for the Enterprise. Project Pro 2007 downloads
this from Project Server the first time it connects and then only downloads
changes every time it opens.

You can change your local stuff, but only Project Server Admin people can
change Enterprise items.

Enterprise global is stored on project server and is the default template
that is used when connected to Project server. It is controlled typically by
the administrator and any changes or configurations set in it are available
to all.

There is a local global which is sometimes referred to as the Project Global
(in VBA for example) which is similar to the enterprise global but which is
stored on the local machine for each user.

Customizations that the user makes to their environment (special views etc.)
can be stored in the local global.

There is also a third sort of global which is the cached enterprise global
which is created when you connect to project server. It is used when you are
working in an offline mode in conjunction with the local global.

If you only use project pro and never connect with project server all you
need is the local global.
