Enterprise global

Basic question using enterprise global. I changed our enterprise global to
show summary tasks. Now though, when I open a new project, the show summary
task checkbox is not checked. Obviously, I ust not be using the enterprise
gloabl when I open a new project plan. Why not?

Kerry:

You are misunderstanding the capabilities of the Enterprise Global. The
Enterprise Global is your companies library of project objects such as
views, tables, macros, filters, etc. Essentially, these are things that you
can manipulate in the Organizer. You cannot set options for the Project
client using e-global.

Hi Kerry,

I dont think ent Global can be used this way. Its a library for your custom
enterprise objects like fields, tables, reports, etc. Although it would be
cool, you cannot specify option settings for everyone universally. I had a
very similiar question and this is the answer I got from Dale Howard.

Hope that helps. :)

Thanks for your help, Is there some method to use to do what I'm attempting.
We want all projects to show the summary tasks, and automatically accept new
external data. Can I save off a blank template with those options set, then
just tell the PM's to use that for every new project?

Yes, you can set many of the options in project templates and that is the
best way to distribute these. You can also set many options through a custom
msi file that you then use to install Project on client systems.

You can also enforce this setting using the Administrative Template
files for Office 2007. These are enforce through Group Policy, so they
will only work for computers belonging to a domain / Active Directory.

The ability to control the display of the "Project Summary Task" is
one of about 100 possible settings. In many environments, one of the
most useful settings is the ability to control the maximum size of the
local project cache.

The full list of settings is in an Excel spreadsheet that the download
includes (look on the second tab.)
