Enterprise Project Fields and Reporting

Chris

I created an Enterprise Project Duration Field using a formula where
FIELDNAME = [DURATION] to see if I could replicate the standard Duration that
is in the views for the Projects. I did this so I could create a report
using our Cognos BI tool to show the duration of a project. The result when
placing this in a view in Project Server is 0d, although the project has a
duration of 217d. How can I replicate the Duration (and the % Work Complete
field for that matter) in a Enterprise Project custom field?

Thanks!

Open the project and press the F9 function key to recalculate the project.
That should provide you with the Duration value you seek. You would need to
do this once with each EXISTING project in your system, but would not need
to do it with any new projects your PM's create. Hope this helps.

Hi
Just wanted to ask.
After creating the custom field did you republish your project.
Only after you re-publish the results will be displayed on server

Okay, I must be doing something wrong as it is not calculating. So, I open
Enterprise Global, create a custom Enterprise Project Duration1 field.
Rename custom field as Project Duration, select Custom Attributes Formula as
"Project Duration = [Duration] using the Field functionality, the selecting
Duration, Duration. Then I click OK. Save the Enterprise Global file, exit
Project, come back in and do your suggestions. I still see 0d.

Should I be doing something us when setting it up? Should I be using a
different field? All my other Enterprise Project fields are working except
for Duration and % Work Complete. Once these are done, I am set!

Thanks in advance for your help!!!!

Never mind! Got it fixed by also clicking the Formula button in the Rollup
area! Hope that was it!

By the way, the Project Summary Task (Row 0) automatically calculates the
project Duration for you, so there is no need for your custom formula. To
display the Project Summary Task in any project, complete the following
steps:

1. Open the project
2. Click Tools - Options
3. Click the View tab
4. Select the "Display Project Summary Task" option in the lower right
corrner of the dialog
5. Click OK

You will now see a single line representing the summarized values for the
entire project, including your project Duration value. Hope this helps.
