Enterprise Resource Calender

Our company's actual situation is like this,
1,Many Project Managers couldn't logon to Project Server to publish plans
via Internet Explorer, but via Email to system administrator.
2,One Resource usually does not belong to the only Project Plan but also
other plans. And also Different Project Plans are managed by different
persons. This means One Resource is not managed by the only Project
Manager, but also the other Project Managers.

Now our problem is if One Resource is in different Project Plans and a
manager has requested the system administrator to change the Enterprise
Resource Calender,it'll got affected on the other plans which also contain
the same Resource. But the other Project Manager don't know this.

We wanna know how to solve this problem? Thanks extremely!

This is bacially a process and communication problem, rather than a Project
Server problem. After all, what did you do about this before you started
using Project Server? Didn't you still have the same problem before Project
Server? Therefore, I would recommend you folks come up with a communication
process by which project managers are notified of vacation time by
resources. Hope this helps.

Dale,

I think I understand the problem. The concern is that when the resource's
calendar is updated, all project plans that have this resource are
automatically impacted. Is there any way to pull up a list of PMs who have
this user as a contact and notify them that there may be an impact to there
project plan?

Thanks,
CLin

There's no quick default method to determine which resources are used in
which project manager's projects, however, one workaround would be to ask
your Project Server administrator to create a new custom Assignment view
using the following steps:

1. Log into PWA with administrator permissions
2. Click Admin - Manage Views
3. In the Assignment section, select the Summary view and click the Copy
View button
4. Give the new View a name, such as "PM for Each Resource" and then click
the OK button
5. Select the new View and click the Modify View button
6. Add/remove fields from the list on the right to include only the
following fields in the following order:

Task Name
Start
Finish
Resource Name
Project Manager
Project

7. In the Default Group, Sort section, set grouping as follows:

Group By: Resource Name
Then By: Project Manager
Then By: Project

8. In the Outline Levels section, select Outline Level 3
9. Add this View to at least one Category (at least the My Organization and
perhaps the My Projects categories)
10. Click the Save Changes button

Then, you can navigate to the View Resource Assignments page from the
Resource Center, select the resources whose project managers you wish to
see, select the new custom View from the Choose a View selector, and you
will see each resource, with their various project managers and projects
listed below them. Hope this helps.

Dale,
Thanks a lot for your answer, but a project manager can't see all project in
project server. This is perhaps a communication problem.I am the
administrator, but I am new to Project Server.I feel it is hard to communicate
with all project managers.

Who are you? Are you CLin or someone else? If you are CLin, did you do the
steps I detailed in my last post? Let us know.
