Enterprise Resource export/backup?

K

Keith Hodes

Hi.

I'm moving our current Project Server to a new one. I've
done a clean install of Project Server on the new server
successfully.

My plan is to rebuild the database by saving all the
projects as .mpp files and the importing them to the new
server. I'm also going to backup the enterprise global
file and restore it to the new server. [If you've had any
experiences with this, or if you know of another way to go
about this, please let me know.]

My question is, how can I move the global resource pool
over, or save/back it up to import/restore it onto the new
server? There is no option to back it up like there is
for the enterprise global file.

As always, your help is appreciated.

Thanks,
Keith

Why don't you just do a COMPLETE BACKUP of the Project
Server Database?

You will have to delete and recreate the MSProjectUser
and MSProjectServerUser accounts.

This will save you a tremendous amount of time.

Your DBA should be able to assist you easily.

Restore the Database to a new DBServer first and then
install Project Server, but this time, point to an
existing instance of the DB instead of recreating.

G'Luck :)

Vinh's approach is correct, but note you will have to modify olap and sts
settings within projectserver (admin) and you will have to rebuild olap
views (though utility for editing these views is available from EPK).

If you want a backup of the resource pool, simply open blank file, and using
build team, add all resources to the blank project, then save offline.
