Enterprise Resources with same names

Does Project Server 2003 not allow resources with same names?

We had a inactive resource with a name 'John Doe'. Now, another new resource
came with the same name 'John Doe'. Their windows accounts were different.
Now, when I tried to add this new resource, in the 'Validate Enterprise
Resources' dialog box, it displayed an error 'Duplicate name' and did not let
me add this new resource. I had to do a workaround by adding an extra space
between 'John' and 'Doe'. But I was surprised that the name has to be unique.
Am I missing something here?

Thanks,

Nope - you got it. The name must be totally unique. Many people resort to
using middle initials, etc. to create the difference. The name field is the
key field to the resource pool.
