Enterprise Task Outline Code not viewable in Project Views

Ryan Miller

I'm trying to get an Enterprise Task Outline Code to display in the Project
Views for Leads and Managers to view the tracking ID for scope identification
for an individual deliverable as it moves through our SDLC. The field/column
is publishing from the client to the server with the column and its contents
are visible in the timesheets of our resources, however in the project view
from project center the column is not visible. I have tried publishing the
projects again, building new views, etc, but to no avail. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your help.

Have you actually edited a detailed Project view to include this field?
Just because you added the field to the Published Fields list in each
project, and added the field to the Timesheet view, does not mean it will
appear in any detailed Project views. If you wish it to appear in all
detailed Project views, you must add the field to each View. Let us know.

Thank you for your reply.

I added it to the specific project views I was looking for it in with no
luck. I only mentioend the timesheet view to show that it was making it to
the view and web tables.

Thanks,

Ryan

Did you actually rename this field by clicking the Rename button in the
Customize Enterprise Fields dialog?

I belive the person I inherited the config from did rename the field. Is
that somehow playing a part? It shows as "DTS (Enterprise Task Outline Code
5)" in the global template, customize enterprise fields dialogue box.

Thanks for your help.

Strange situation. I cannot duplicate your problem. I have created DTS
(Enterprise Task Outline Code 5) field in my Enterprise Global and then
added this field to a Project view in PWA. I can see the column just fine
when I apply the Project view.

What version of Project are you using, and what level of service pack? Let
us know.

We're using PS2K3 with SP1... unrelated, another odd behavior which just
popped up is that even though I have security set up for a group to be able
to use portfolio analyzer, they get a message that they are not authorized to
view the cube.

By chance, are you seeing errors in the server's application event log?

Dale:

I've seen this repeatedly in the log this week:

Component: PjMsgHlr
File: C:\Office\devsp\project\WebClient\source\server\pjmsghlr\updatedb.cpp
Line: 660
Error Number: 0x8c04000d
Description:
Assert Detected. The error code was also
included.

Hi Ryan,

Did you get to the bottom of this error message? I've done my usual morning
check of the event viewer, and there are a score of these error codes come
out of nowhere!

Cheers,

John
