Enterprize global Resource Rate changes info required

Hi,

I have the following requirement from a client:
I need to update Microsoft Project 2003 Enterprize Global Resource pool with
resouce rate changes as it occurs in their corporate resource database.
Thisd is for resources not specific to projects. I am planning to do it via
the PDS, writing an extension for the EPM server. (Doing it through the
front end using the object model will not be feasable, since it is too slow
and you get the client opened on the server) That is all fine, my problem is
that the rate information is stored in a BLOB and I dont have information to
decode it. How can I get hold of information to decode it, or does there
exist workarounds for this problem?

Thanks
Jan

Hi Garry,

That is not acceptable for my client, since they will not allow client apps
to be running on their server and you cannot let the client run unattended on
the server. I an error condition occurs, the appllication will hang if you
use the object mode. In short, that would not be a feasable / professional
solution at all and is not an option.

There must be another way ie, the correct way to update the data. Could you
perhaps direct me to the person(s) that has the info about how to decode the
blob? That info must be available. Alternatively, one might have to write
your own logic in the PDS extention to update the resource table correctly
that then lives in parallel with the Microsoft blob. This is not an optimal
solution either since the data in the rate table might have unforseen clashes.

In summary, could you please direct me to the right persion? At the moment I
am also getting feedback from Srinivasa Koushik from ISV Technical Service
that he is looking at the problem.

Thanks
Jan

Jan:

You seem to be more knowledgeable in these affairs than I am. I certainly
don't the folks at Microsoft who release the proprietary information.
