A new and troubling problem when using MSWord 2003 is that when entering the
cursor at the right end of a text line, the entire line is selected.
Previously, when one entered (clicked) at the right end of a line, one could
start typing new text immediately. Now, however, since MSWord 2003 selects
the entire line upon the "click", the existing line disappears when you start
typing. This is true when the option "Typing replaces selection" is active.
If that option is deactivated, then the cursor moves to the left side (start)
of the line for entry of new text. Either way is unacceptable, since at two
additional keystrokes (arrows), or a precise click next to the last character
is required to overcome the problem.
Interestingly, this condition occurs in the "normal view" but not the "print
layout" or "web layout" views.
I assume there must be a way to eliminate or correct this deficiency, but I
could not solve the problem with options in the MSWord 2003 "Options".
