I have an occassional problem when trying to print in Word 2000. In looking
back through the history of this forum, I found a similar post on 02/25/05
from Chris. I have copied that post here:
I have had erratic printing problems with Word 2003. Documents will
erratically misprint, only printing 2/3 of the page and no footer. The error
message prior to printing is "The margins of section 1 are set outside of the
printable range of the printer." This is not the case, and when the auto-fix
option is used, the bottom margin is increased to 2.5". These files print
with no problem in Word 97.
Opening multiple documents can also cause this to occur. Print preview
accurately shows whether or not the entire page will print. Documents have
been checked for hideen text, hidden formatting. The same thing can occur
after a new document is created while a mis-printing document is open. Many
of the 'new' Word features have been turned off, as has printer spooling.
Printer driver and Word are up to date. The problem occurs with multiple
printers. The problem may or may not occur consistently with the same
document.
Suzanne Barnhill replied to Chris that he (she?) needed to downlaod a driver
update from HP.
I am also using an HP LaserJet 1100. I have gone to HP's web site and
downloaded what I think are all driver updates available, yet I still have
the problem.
Here is (I think) an interesting note about this problem: When it occurs, if
I shut down Word, and then reopen Word and try to print the document the
problem is still there. However, is I shut down the computer (Windows XP),
reboot and try again - every time the document prints flawless. It seems as
though something gets Word confused during the course of my work to make it
occassionally mess up.
Any ideas?
I really appreciate all the help you guys offer.
