Entire Word 2003 document contents now part of a form

I don't have a clue what I did, but all 392 pages of my document is now

part of a large form field. Anytime I click on any text, all the
documents contents highlights. I then double-click it and the Text
Form Field Options dialog box appears.

It shows Type as Regular Text, Maximum Length of 255 and the Fill-in
enabled checkbox checked.

This is a very important document that I've been working on for over 2
months and I cannot get it to revert back to the non-form way. I
cannot edit it and it doesn't print right now.

What can I do?

Thanks

Press Alt+F9 to toggle the field codes. You may see FORMTEXT followed by the
rest of your document text; select the latter and cut, then paste it
somewhere outside the field. Unfortunately, if the maximum length is 255
characters, that may be all you can extract. Do you have a backup of this
document?

Thanks for the info. I hit Alt+F9 and the entire document was inside
the FORMTEXT field.

I spoke to Microsoft and we were able to resolve this issue by enabling
the "Protect Form" option from the Forms Toolbar and then copy all the
contents of the form to another document. All the formatting was
maintained except for some very minor page orientation, which should
take less than an hour to fix.

Thanks for the reply.
