entouarge x corrupt database file

i have a corrupt entourage database and when i choose to rebuild it
using the option/launch entourage i get the following error aafter
about ten minutes.

"the database could not be rebuilt because there is not enough room on
the disk to create the new database"

m current database is 2.7 gigs and i have 15 gigs available so i have
no idea what this message is about. i'm running osx 10.3 on a powerbook
g4 1.25ghz and 2 gigs of ram. ANY HELP WOULD BE REALLY APPRECIATED.
