Entourage 08 - Exchange 03 sync calendar but not messages

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: intel
Email Client: Exchange

I have configured correctly an exchange account on Entourage, and Entourage sync calendar events, show all email folders, and server contacts. But no messages.

All email folders are empty. I even create a folder on Entourage and showed up on the server. And even dropped a few messages on this new folder on the server going through OWA, and these messages never made it to the client.

Any one has any idea where I can look to troubleshoot this? I have done my google, and it seems no one has experienced something like this.

THANKS!

PS. I also found out that my local contacts are not downloading neither.

Do you see a "(Not Connected)" message after your Exchange account name
in the folder list on the left?

How did you configure your account? Automatically or manually?

Have a look at the following for how to manually configure your Exchange
account:

"Connecting Entourage to an Exchange Server at work"
<http://entourage.mvps.org/exchange/exchangeatwork.html>

Hope this helps!

Yes, I configured it manually. And I haven't see any messages saying 'not connected' or 'offline' so far. What I can tell you is that the progress window shows that is syncing various folders, but then it seems like it finish syncing and when I go to one of those synced folders, there is nothing.

I have also try selecting a specific folder, right clicking on it and clicking on 'Syncronized Now' option. Then I open the progress window and it shows that is syncing the folder I just selected. Finishes, and when I go back to the very same folder, nothing. :(

Like I mentioned, the list of folders shows on Entourage, Calendar Events, and server Contacts.

I thank any help!!!

The last thing I can think of, which wouldn't explain calendar and
contacts, is the View --> Unread Only command may be enabled.

After "synchronizing" does the size of your Database file grow? It
should be about 25MB when empty.

Both 'Unread Only' and 'Flagged Only' are uncheck.

Where can I look for Entourage's database?

Thanks for all your help!

Database location: your home folder/documents/microsoft user data/ms office 2008 identies, etc

Am having a similar problem where all folders sync correctly *except* Sent and Inbox, and even Sent syncs eventually I think. Stuck using our webmail interface, which locks me out every 5 minutes...

DB is right now 38MB large on my local system. When I right-click on Inbox and select folder properties, in the pop-up window that comes up, on the Storage pane also shows all my folders and the size of each on the server. Everything totals around 100MB.

When I keep Entourage open, from time to time I see the progress on the bottom right corner... syncing folders randomly. But again, after done, nothing on the just synced folder. I hope someone will come with the solution. Maybe MVPs can talk with inside MS people and help us...

My current situation is that I brought the first two Macs to a Windows only environment for marketing people. Plus I have Senior Management looking at the MacBook Air. For me Entourage was a benefit point with Exchange access. I believe that different departments can benefit of a cross-platform environment. But if I don't make Entourage work and talk the way it supposed to with Exchange, not only make Office 08 + Mac software as a wrong choice, it will make me look bad.

Hopefully this can be resolved. I have access to everything... The Exchange Server, the Web firewalls and filters in between, and the clients. I just don't know where to look of a possible cause. I have other notebooks remotely using Outlook connected to Exchange through HTTP.

Thanks to anyone who can give me a hand.

Ideas? Anyone! What step should I take... Is there a product support line out there?

I would make sure you are getting the mail in Entourage through IMAP or even use the Apple Mail Exchange to verify you can get it from another client. Just a thought...

I am experiencing exactly the same problem. Entourage appears to sync
correctly, and my calendar entries are available, but the messages and
contacts are not. I can edit permissions on my Outlook account from within
Entourage, and even create folders and post to them. However, as soon as
something is accessed from Outlook, it becomes invisible to Entourage.

I am told that our server is running Exchange 2003 and is up-to-date on
patches.

I have played with options on the server, and on the client, with no positive results.

But I'm wondering if I create an exchange account never accessed from an outlook client, if it changes any variables. At this moment I can't try that that way, if someone will...? If not, I'll try to give it a try next week.

Thanks for anyone looking into this, or suggesting, or supporting!

Just a note: IMAP is disabled on the server, and will stay that way. None of the other administrators will allow me to change it. I don't think that even I will allow myself to change it :|
