Entourage 2001 and LDAP problem

Matt

From a Macintosh OS 9.x computer, I'm able to succesfully connect to
an LDAP server via Outlook Express. However, when I use the same
configuration for Entourage 2001 on that computer, it fails with the
following error:

Error
LDAP Server Error.
Explanation
The directory service denied access. Verify the authentication
settings for this directory service.
Error: 10049

The LDAP server I'm connecting to is a Windows 2000 Global Catalog
Active Directory server.

I'm searched Technet and the internet but haven't found any solutions.
Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

In Entourage 2001, go to Tools -> Accounts, click the "Directory Service"
tab, and delete the non-functioning directory service account. Then go to
File -> Import, choose "Outlook Express", and choose to import only
accounts. Locate your Outlook Express user data folder (usually located in
HD/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Identities/ or Outlook Express 5
Folder/Identities), and import. Then try accessing the directory services.
Does it work? If not, it might be a bug in Entourage 2001.
