Everytime I try and attach a folder to a message I get a error telling me
that stuff-it is NOT INSTALLED when it is installed. I just downloaded the
most recent version in fact.

Entourage cannot send a folder of files. It can only send files.

If you have the paid version of Stuffit installed then it can use that
to automatically compress your folder attachments before sending.
Otherwise, you will need to compress your folders into .zip files or
something similar before attaching.

Hope this helps!

Thats not how things worked back when I was using Mac OSX Tiger. I was
able to send a folder of files and it would compress them and I was
using the UNPAID version of stuffit.

Well I am going to log-in as a guest or as my test account and give it a
shot again. If I still get the message, then you may be correct and that
this feature was taken away with SL. Its not the only drawback to SL,
but these are few and far in between.

The Finder no longer uses Stuffit but Archive Utility that will zip the
files for you. It's hidden away but if you control click on an item, you
can select to "compress". Entourage is using this for me in Entourage
2008. In Entourage preferences > Compose, do you have selected to
"compress attachments in Zip format"?

That may explain it. I am using Entourage 2004 which does not support
compressing as ZIP. So in my case under Snow Leopard I will need to
manually compress folders in the finder to send via Entourage. Tiger
would compress them as a .sit file which in all reality no one could
read other than Mac users.
