Hi All,
I just upgraded my PB to Tiger 10.4.1 and Entourage 2004 (11.1.0) from
Panther 10.3.9 and Entourage 2004. I am currently observing an issue
with the use of Digital Certificates. I use a Thawte cert to both
sign and encrypt emails to friends and co-workers.
After the upgrade, my personal cert install took place without a
glitch. But now when I get a signed email with a cert, I click on
"View Details" and "Add to Contacts" it no longer adds or
associates the cert with the Entourage Contact. I can not see the
cert in the "Certificate" panel of the contact. When I tried to
send an email to the contact, it gives me an error by stating that a
cert is not associated and give me an option to send the mail in the
clear.
After some troubleshooting, I discovered that every time I clicked on
the "Add to Contacts" it was adding the certs to the "Microsoft
Cert Manager" under "Individuals" category. However, the certs
were not showing up in the "Apple Keychain". To further
troubleshoot I exported a cert from the "Microsoft Cert Manager" to
the desktop. I went into Entourage Contacts and open up the
corresponding contact. Under the "Certificate" panel, I tried to
import the cert. It seemed to import the certs until I hit the
"Save" button. The cert immediately disappeared from the panel.
Lastly I imported the same exported the cert into the "Apple
Keychain" under "Login". It worked. Then tried to import the cert
again to the Entourage. It worked. I discovered that after importing
the cert manually into the "Apple Keychain", I can import the cert
into Entourage any way I want without any problems. However, the cert
has to be manually imported in to the "Apple Keychain" first from
"Microsoft Cert Manager".
I am puzzled by this behavior. I am hoping for some suggestions or
fixes.
Thanks,
Joe
