Entourage 2004: Duplicate msgs and can't delete them

Hello all:
I am running Entourage 2004, v 11.1.0. Since we moved to a new IMAP
server, I am routinely getting duplicate messages downloaded to
Entourage. When I go to delete, one copy can be deleted (a line
appears through it), and the other...nothing happens to it. It just
sits in my Inbox. There appear to be no differences between the two
emails.

However, the "ghost" msg is deleted from the server - I've checked my
account through the Web. Our tech people say it's a client problem and
they've never seen anything like this. I've tried deleting the User
Data folder and reinstalling Entourage. No luck.

Meanwhile, my Inbox is filling up with junky ghost messages! Help!
