Entourage 2004, Exchange 2003, OS 10.4.2

I'm using Entourage 2004 on OS X 10.4.2 and am connecting to an account
on Exchange 2003 on a Dual G5 2GHz.

I've told Spotlight not to index my Microsoft User Data folder, but I
am getting the spinning ball in Entourage on a regular basis and it's
very frustrating. The spinning ball will go on for a few minutes and
then will go away for a while and I'm able to work in Entourage, but
will then return again later. It seems to happen during part of the
Exchange synch process.

It usually seems to happen when Entourage is trying to synch with a
large folder such as my Deleted or Sent Items.

Has anyone else been experiencing this? Any possible solutions,
besides the Spotlight one?

Thanks,
Dave Eckman

YES and this is so frustrating. i have tried turning off everything and
am near giving up on the combo of Entourage + OS X for this very
reason.

i lose 30 seconds out of every minute to that damn spinning ball. i
could tear off the monitor of my laptop sometimes waiting to finish my
sentence in an email.

i have tried turning off everything possible and it still occurs, even
in the background when i am using other applications sometimes.

i have no idea what to do??!!!!

using a PB 1GHz with OS X 10.4.2 and Ent2004.

for reference this did NOT happen before upgrade to 10.4 - which is
annoying because i don't use any of the new features and hate
Spotlight, which is probably the cause of this.

any thoughts welcome please.
