Entourage 2004 Quits

P

Paul Cochrane

On a network of 30 Macs running Entourage 2004 attached to Exchange
2003 there is one station that crashes opening messages with PDF's
attached. The message opens fine on another Mac. These messages are
being sent from within the Mac network. I can delete the messages OK
but that's no solution.
I have run Disk Utility and repaired Permissions and the Disk. Ran
Database Repair - nothing. Ran "Remove Office" by Microsoft and
reinstalled. Same problem. I forwarded one of the messages to another
Mac and opened it fine.
Console shows the following after Entourage quits: Unrecognized Filter
Name 'JPXDecode'.

Any thoughts?

Hi Paul - if you create a new user on that machine, log in as that
user, open Entourage and configure a totally new identity with that
user's account, do the messages work properly?

Have you zapped PRAM, run a rebuild of the Entourage database by
holding down option when you launch it, etc?

That's a good check.

I doubt that either of these two will achieve much - it is most likely
something screwy with the QuickTime installation on that machine.

I tried all that Pete suggested to no avail. I'll check out the new
Entourage site. Is there a way to repair the Quicktime install?

Only to reinstall.
