Entourage 2008 "Could not open that feature" error message

I have set up Entourage 2008 on a G5 and imported the main identity from 2004. I have removed Office 2008 and reinstalled it twice yet I constantly get the error message "Could not open that feature. An unknown internal program error occurred". Usually I can click OK and proceed but if I click on any of the mail, calendar icons across the top of the window, Entourage gets stuck and keeps on trying to change the view and calling up this error message over and over again until I force quit Entourage.
On top of that none of the rules were imported and the menu commands 'Rules ...', 'Signatures ...', 'Schedules...' and 'Accounts ...' do not work.
Other specification: Mac OS 10.5.2 - Entourage 2004 still installed but not running. Office notifications in 2004 switched off.

Obviously, it works for most people. We need to find out why it's not
working for you.

When you reinstalled, did you use "Remove Office" or just drag to the trash?

How full is your hard drive? How much Ram?

Did you install 10.5.2 through Software Updater or did you use the Combo
updater?

Check your Startup Items in System Preferences and see if there are multiple
Microsoft Database daemons. If you find more than one, delete all. One will
be automatically added when you start Entourage.

How did you install Leopard? There are 3 types of installs:

1. Upgrade Mac OS X (the default upgrade method)*
2. Archive and Install
3. Erase and Install

* Just because it's the default doesn't mean it's the best option.

This page describes what each method does:

Follow up:

"Could not open that feature" usually means means that the database daemon
has crashed or been quit. If you are running multiple versions of any Office
application, this is more likely to happen.

Delete all Microsoft Database daemons in System Preferences --> Startup
Items.

Delete these files (Preferences can be found in your User's
Library/Preferences folder)

com.microsoft.entourage.office_reminders.plist
com.microsoft.DatabaseDaemon.plist
com.microsoft.Entourage.plist
Microsoft folder
com.apple.LaunchServices.plist

com.microsoft.OfficeNotifications.plist <---this is the 2004 .plist

The Microsoft Database daemon Basics:

The Microsoft Database Daemon allows the Reminder to work even if all MS
applications are closed. The daemon is actually used all the time to access
the Database. Even Word uses it. This is why you need to Quit
Notifications/Reminders and/or the Microsoft Database daemon when you
install MS updates. It could also interfere with backup applications.

If you have Notifications enabled you will see the database daemon in your
startup items. You should only have one. If you have more than one, delete
them all and let one of the Office applications create a new one. Multiple
daemons in startup can cause crashes.

Switching between Entourage 2004 and Entourage 2008 can cause multiple
daemon to be created in Startup Items causing problems. You should quit
Office Notifications/Reminders and/or the daemon before launching another
version.

Word, Excel, and PowerPoint have features that can trigger Office
notifications. The "flag for follow-up" button on Word's standard toolbar is
one such feature. If you don't use these, you can turn Notifications off and
delete it from the login items.

Starting with Entourage 2004: Spotlight will index any cache files the
Entourage daemon has created even if the daemon is not launched, but no new
cache files will be created until the daemon is launched again. If the
Microsoft Sync daemon never launches, there's no way for Entourage to sync
data with Sync Services.

Before Installing any Office update or use backup software: Quit any
applications that are running, including virus-protection applications, all
Office applications, Microsoft Messenger for Mac, and Office
Notifications/Reminders (Microsoft Database daemon)

Download the script to quit the daemon here:

After researching this on the web, I didn't find that any answers people were
giving were correct, so I experimented around and found what worked for me.

1) I opened Entourage 2004 and exported and archive - I exported everthing,
and it created an RGE file. Then Quite Entourage 2004
2) I move the Microsoft User Data out of my Documents folder
3) I opened Entourage 2008
4) Entourage asked if I wanted to import. I clicked "I want to use Entourage
without importing anything.
5) I went to the file menu and chose File- Import, then chose to import from
anr archive.
6) It imported all of my archived items into a folder in Entourage, then I
just moved all the items to the appropriate places, like my Inbox. Or I moved
a folder to "On My Computer"

This moved all of my emails over, but didn't move any of my account
preferences over.
I just set these up again.. but at least I had all my email.

Since I've already deleted Entourage 2004, this solution is a no-go
for me. I did try deleting all Daemons as well as the recommended
prefs files as above, with no luck.

Any ideas what to try now?? This is ridiculous!

Sorry - didn't mean to post in the wrong place - my setup was similar, so I thought I could just jump in - but I'll post a new one!

Thanks!
