Entourage 2008 Database Problem

I have been using the Entourage 2008 for 2 months now. In the last month, I have encountered a problem that has persistently gotten worse. My database was corrupted several times and rebuilt. I have never had this problem before this edition. Now I rebuild the database and when I verify, it tells me it is corrupted. Right now, there is a blank spot in my Inbox, and when I click on the blank spot some of the messages will appear. I also have problems receiving attachments from another Imac with the Entourage 2008 program. When I try to open attachments (pics or documents), I get a message that says I have to restart Entourage and check my database. It doesn't seem to have a problem with other computers sending me attachments. Now I am trying to get this problem resolved. Please help if you can....

This is a definite sign of corruption.

You will need to manually move your data into a new Entourage Identity. We
have seen problems like you describe with some imported Identities. Once you
get your data exported/imported, this should clear any problems you have.

How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)

One thing I have seen in my clients database when I'm doing recovery is lots
of really old messages, events,etc. The corruption was all in the old data
(some going back to the mid 90's). You might consider, archiving older mail
for these reasons:

1) you are not having to backup it up every day taking up valuable disk
space.
2) it's not going to change so why subject it to corruption.
3) It's your current data that's important and at risk from the older files.

Diane is right on all three counts. I was also encountering a lot of
DB corruption I think because sync services in Entourage isn't working
properly. I found rebuild just wouldn't fix the problem. Microsoft
tech support advised me there is some problem with rebuild they were
trying to figure out why it wasn't working properly. I basically had
to create a new identity and just export my data to the identity so
that it would run properly. However, this would mean I lost all my
links and in some cases categories. I actually stopped using Entourage
a little over two months ago as I couldn't take it anymore. I've
gotten used to the Apple apps and have had zero problems in this time.
I bought Contactizer Pro the other day at half price and it seems to
have a olot of Entourage like power. I haven't figured out whether I
will use it as although it has a nice interface, sync's well etc they
don't have a manual and it is a pretty feature rich program so its how
do you tap into this. that seems to be its big issue on its forum. But
I thought I might as well buy it even though I'm now happy with the
Apple apps. If I ever see on this a post that says sync serv/rebuild
is fixed I'll ret to Ent08.
