Entourage 2008 deletes calendar entries on Exchange

Hello,

I posted about this issue months ago, but I never received any responses nor has the issue been corrected.

Entourage 2008 REMOVES calendar entries/reminders for contact birthdays.

Example: I add a birthday to a contact via Outlook 2007 which connects to an Exchange 2007 server. The entry automatically adds a recurring event to my calendar to remind me of the contact's birthday. It works great, until I launch and connect to Exchange with Entourage. For no apparent reason, every single birthday entry will be removed without warning.

I hope that Microsoft will finally address this issue after months and months of missing birthdays (because of this), thanks to Entourage.

Entourage knows no difference between a regular event or a birthday
event. I suspect your problem is related more to how those events are
getting on your calendar and from where.

I'm working to test this with my version of Outlook 2007 and Entourage
2008. In the meantime, you may simply need to clear and re-sync your
Exchange Calendar cache.

Right-click or Control-click your Calendar in Entourage, select Folder
Properties and click the Empty button to empty the cache. You can also
select the account itself and empty the cache for all of your folders.

Hope this helps!

Emptying the cache may be a work around, but it should be a very basic function for entourage to correctly synchronize the calendar. I too use both outlook on XP and entourage on mac. Calendar operations made on outlook while entourage is offline (which is my most typical case) are overwritten the next time entourage syncs the calendar. This is a bug. A critical bug I'd say. It means I have to empty and resync my calendar every single time I connect with entourage. And if I forget to empty the cache, my calendar is ruined. I'll skip the gratuitous rant about the quality of microsoft products which I'm forced to used here. But really, this is a bug that needs to be fixed.
