To migrate a large mailbox (13G) from an old imap server to an Exchange 2007
server, here's what I did:
- Outlook 2007 sync to old IMAP server. Export to PST. Took ~4 hours to
complete.
- In Outlook, chop about 50% of the PST, bringing it down to 5.1G
- In Outlook 07, create new profile, connect to new Exchange 07 (fully
updated) account. Import the PST file. Took ~4 hours. All folders up to
date.
- Connect Entourage 2008 to the new Exchange account. Leave it running
overnight downloading.
In the morning, still not done. Reboot the machine. Connect again, let it
run a few more hours. Reboot and repeat. A few more hours.
Now I notice - Entourage is presently downloading ~ 6 messages per second.
Why is this so darn slow?
