Entourage 2008 (latest update) does not retrieve all email

We are talking about POP servers and no Exchange in use.

I run Windows and Mac all day long Office 2007 and Office 2008.

Entourage continually fails to retrieve emails that appear in Outlook.

I like Entourage better than Outlook, but I have not been using it regularly
because I can¹t trust it.

This is not a new phenomenon, and I remember seeing a post on this several
months ago.

I do not think it has been happening contstantly over the past few months,
but it is definitely happening now. I just tested it and an email from this
morning does not appear in Entourage but is big as life in Outlook.

Obviously this is unacceptable.

Has anyone experienced this, and is there a workaround other than shouting?

Yes, I¹ve seen this too. I¹m running Office 2003 on Windows (didn¹t upgrade
to Office 2007 on windows because I don¹t like the new ribbon interface at
all), and office 2008 on the MAC. As I¹m currently migrating, and some of my
business apps are still on the PC, I am using Office 2003 for PC and 2008
(Entourage) on the MAC simultaneously. I access 4 POP accounts via both.

I¹ve noticed this too. There are some messages that don¹t appear in
Entourage. Not all the time, but occasionally I¹ll see a message on the PC
that never appears in Entourage on the MAC. I have both machines set to
leave copies on the server for 30 days, so I can go back using web mail and
confirm that they¹re still on the server, but never appear in Entourage.

I thought it was a weird one time glitch, as I¹ve only seen it a couple of
times, but it has happened.

Thanks, Sam!

That saves an awful lot of back and forth about whether it¹s my system or
account or astrological sign. :)

Unfortunately, it absolutely forces me away from the bloody Mac platform! I
can¹t risk missing emails.

Let¹s see.... Office crashes continually, Entourage doesn¹t retrieve email
reliably, no VB....

Don¹t suppose maybe Microsoft has any interest in weakening the Mac as a
business machine, do you?

Considering that NONE of these issues were present in 2004, this is really
pretty stinking supicious.

Although I agree that I¹ve seen this once or twice, I can¹t say that it¹s an
Entourage issue, or a MAC issue. Just that I¹ve seen it. POP itself isn¹t so
robust, and for all I know both machines, or three machines were all hitting
the server at once.

It¹s not something I¹ve seen on a regular basis, or something I can pin
down. So for all my rants about Entourage and Office 2008 for MAC, on this
one issue all I can say is that I have seen it happen. Keep in mind there
are a lot of moving pieces in this scenario.

I think the MAC is a fine business platform, and I¹m not going back.
Entourage is getting uninstalled. If I really need to connect to an exchange
server I¹ll use OWA from Safari, but I will not reward bad behavior with
continued customer allegiance, which is why I¹m here instead of a Vista
forum. MS will just watch me and others like me kick them completely to the
curb. Hotmail is broken on the MAC, so I¹ll move to gmail. IM is hosed on
the MAC, so I¹ll go with yahoo. Entourage is hosed, so I¹ll find an
alternative and move on.

If you only use POP mail or IMAP there are lots of alternatives for the MAC.
Just don¹t look back.
