Entourage 2008 Mac Hangs when clicking on encrypted email

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

I recently installed Entourage 2008 to hook in with my corp Exchange server. Everything works spot on save for the fact that the app hangs (never to come back again - must kill the process to recover) when I click on an encrypted email.

I have the appropriate signing and encrypting certs that I use on my Windows-based laptop along with the root CA for said certificates. All certs are completely trusted in my keychain. What I find odd is that I immediately get the beach ball of death as soon as I click on one of those messages. If the message is merely signed, I have no problem.

Questions:

1. Has anyone else experienced this issue?
2. What could be the root cause?
3. Is there a way to force debug logging on Entourage 2008?
4. What might be the best methods to employ for troubleshooting this problem?

I look forward to any replies. Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Doug!

I've never used encrypted mail with Entourage and Exchange. Is the
encrypted message signed by a person? If so, have you tried adding that
person's certificate to a contact record for that person in Entourage?
You'll need to copy it from the GAL first to your Contacts list and then
add the certificate to it.

Are you using a front-end or a back-end server address? I am assuming
you'll need to connect directly to a back-end (direct) Exchange Server.

Hope this helps!
