Entourage 2008 Not Synching Calendar

Scott Melendez

Entourage 2008 is not synching my calendar. I have gone so far as to
completely reset iCal as described in the Entourage MVP site, to no effect.
Address Book synching is working (reasonably) well, other than the
occasional complete deletion of Address Book contacts by Sync Services. How
do I get my Calendar entries over, so I can use my iPhone? Please help. This
is taking up an unnecessary amount of time where I should otherwise be
productive!

HW: MacBook Pro 2.6 GHz, 4 Gb RAM, 250 Gb HD
SW: OS 10.5.2, Office 2008 12.1

Do you have an Entourage calendar setup in iCal? Only entries in the iCal
Entourage calendar will sync to the Entourage calendar.

I stopped using entourage because whenever I synched with iCal, it would place duplicate entries, which somehow got replicated back into my Entourage calendar. As a result, I ended up with 15 birthday entries on any given day... between that problem and the inability to share/publish my entourage calendar, I simply stopped using it. Because I prefer the tighter integration of the Office Suite, I might consider switching back if I can get around these two problems. Any suggestions?

What version did you stop using the Entourage calendar? SP1 should have
fixed most of the duplication problems. I would clear out everything and
start with one base or you will get the round robin of adding entries.

To get rid of duplicates use one of the scripts to remove duplicates.

I stopped using the most recent version before Office 2008. It was X, wasn't it? (Gee how quickly we forget!) I was hoping that by using Entourage, and then synching to iCal, I could then publish my calendar using dotmac. Has anyone actually tried doing this and getting it work in a satisfactory, no hassle way?

Office 2004, actually. It is entirely possible to do what you have
described, but keep in mind that if you sync your Entourage calendar to
iCal, you will end up with one calendar only ("Entourage"); so when you
publish your calendar, you will automatically publish ALL your events.
That's the only drawback as far as I can tell, so if you can live with it,
go ahead and give the sync a try.

Thanks Michel. I can live that. I am just wondering if it's a better solution that what I have now. (Primary tools are ical/mail/addresses.) I also tried synching entourage with ical with ical as the primary, so that I could try the My Day mini app, but for some reason nothing seems to show up in there. Curious.

Also, I tried downloading the first undupe script on the webpage. When I ran it, it took forever and eventually had to cancel it the next day.

Everything used to work fine on my mac. However, since I updated to 10.5.3 Entourage isn't syncing to iCal anymore.
I've tried to reset the sync preferences in Entourage and chose the "Entourage replaces iCal" option. It seems it only sync'ed one but unfortunately didn't replace but rather merger iCal & my Exchange calendar in Entourage. Since then, it does not sync in any direction.

This is very frustrating as I can't sync my iPhone anymore since iCal isn't up-to-date.

I checked the processes on my Mac and seems Microsoft sync services keeps crashing ("not responding").

I managed to solve my problem. Here's what I did:

Deactivate Entourage sync to address book & iCal
Repair permissions
Delete iCal "Entourage" calendar
Delete Microsoft Office Preferences
Delete iCal Preferences
Reset iSync Sync history
Restart
Reactivate Entourage sync to address book & iCal

Hope this helps others!

This worked for me (Entourage had suddenly stopped synching with iCal). Thanks!
