Entourage 2008 Out of Office sending out thousands

T

Terry R.

I have a user on one network I admin who just returned from vacation.
When she opened up Entourage this morning, she states it "started"
sending out notifications to everyone. She said she turned it off but
it continues whenever she opens it.

I haven't touched the laptop yet, I'm only going by speaking with the
user. It also doesn't sound like it went crazy when she first turned it
on a week ago, but only when she returned.

This network is using Exchange 2003 fully patched. OS X 10.5.

Any suggestions?

Well the OOF is on the server itself. It's obviously not something
Entourage is doing.

Checnk through OWA in the options if it is properly turned off there.
If it is, it truly is a problem on the server (unless you have set a
Rule to manually send OOF messages instead of using the Exchange OOF).

I checked OWA right after I received the request. It's off.

I've never seen the Exchange OOA settings. Where can I turn it off for
this user?

And to clarify, it's sending out notices to EVERYONE in her Sent, not
just those that emailed her while she was gone.

That would be a question to ask to in the Exchange group. I don't
administrate an Exchange server myself so I wouldn't really know,

Could it be a Rule in Entourage then?? Did you double-check?

That looks like what a virus might do if it got hold of the address book
(but on a Mac and with Entourage, that would be more than unheard of).

Did you check the headers of one of the messages to try to identify the
IP of the originating machine?
