Hello all...

My wife teaches at a magnet high school and evenings at a college; both campus' use Microsoft Exchange, so she has to go to the Outlook Webmail for each campus (exchange.<campus name>.edu).

On her old PC notebook, she uses Outlook 2007 Student Teacher Ed. to communicate with each mail server no problems. However, we bought Office '08 STE and are having an issue w/ setting up Entourage for her campus e-mail.

When I went on to our iMac to set up the Exchange server for her campus accounts, it said that Entourage didn't support Exchange servers. This doesn't make sense because the majority of campuses use Microsoft Exchange for their e-mail, and Outlook '07 STE for her PC works just fine. Plus, if this is a Student/Teacher Edition, and teachers use Exchange for their campus e-mail, why disable this functionality?!

What are we to do? Thanks in advance for your help.

You should read the details of what you buy before buying it. Office
2008 Mac Student & Teacher Edition does not contain Exchange support.
Looks like you need to call Microsoft and upgrade to the Professional
Edition. While you have them on the phone, be sure to complain if you
think that feature should be included in S&T Edition of Office Mac.

In fact, the "Student and Teacher" edition in E 2004 became "Home and
Student" edition in E 2008 and dropped Exchange support.

As JR indicated, you must get either the standard edition or the Special
Media Edition of Office for Mac in order to get Exchange support.

I believe they have a guarantee that will let you exchange the wrong
version. I wouldn't expect it to be a quick or easy process. You would need
proof of purchase and I'm guessing there is a time limit.
