ENTOURAGE 2008 TASK LIST - SAVED SEARCHES

Several months ago I created several saved searches in my task list, which were sorted by due date, incomplete, overdue, etc. The saved search function worked great and I could easily view my daily, weekly, and master task lists at the click of a button.

Then....they stopped working. Same computer, same OS, same settings....but the Saved Search function no longer works. I tried deleting the old ones and creating new ones...nothing. I then checked the default Saved Search folders in my e-mail folder and they do not work either.

I've verified that the Spotlight box in Entourage preferences is checked.

Let's verify if it's database corruption. Create a new Identity in Entourage
and see if the saved search works. Be sure to deselect Sync Services in your
current Identity before switching to a new Identity. You can only have one
Identity at a time with Sync Services enabled.

If it works, then you'll need to rebuild your database. Make a duplicate of
your Identity in the Finder first as additional backup. A rebuild does make
a duplicate, but sometimes in the process the original and backup get merged
resulting in total disaster. It's rare but it happens.

How to rebuild:

Let me know what your results show.

Diane,
Thanks for the quick response. I created the new identity as you described, but the Saved Search function still does not work. Tried it in the new e-mail, tasks, and calendar with no luck. I then created a dummy identity with no e-mail address or network connections and the saved search function still did not show the "Welcome to Entourage" e-mail that shows up in the inbox.

Any other ideas?

Many thanks!

Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts. Switch to the
New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test Entourage in a
new blank Identity. If that works, then in your regular User's account move
your Identity folder to Shared. Switch to the new User test account and drag
from Shared to the Microsoft User Data folder --> 2008 Identities folder.
(It actually copies the file) Remember to drag back after test from Shared.
If your Identity works in the New User then the problem is in your User's
account. See this page for testing.
