Entourage acting erratic

Email Client: imap

I'm testing out Entourage 2008 at work with a view to rolling it out to the whole company. I have two accounts set up on it (an IMAP account for our office mail and a MobileMe account for personal mail). It seems a little flaky in that it takes a while to refresh folders when I click on them (Sent folders etc). I've noticed that sometimes sent mails do not appear in the Sent folder even though I have my 'Special Folders' set up accordingly. Also some mails were coming in with strike-throughs in them. I established that this was because my mail client at home was applying rules and moving the mails to other folders. I have rectified this by completing deleting all all rules on every computer I have for both email accounts. Most worryingly of all though, I have noticed that Entourage seems to randomly put some mails directly into 'Deleted Messages' so unless I actually click on this folder, I have no way of knowing that the mail ever arrived (I get no notification). Although this has only happened 2 or 3 times, from my recollection it is only happening for the MobileMe account.

Can anybody give any feedback on these issues.

Thanks
Sean

Check under tools, mailing list manager, see if anything is in there, if so
disable or delete. A mailing list manager can move mail to the trash
sometimes.

Try testing the account in a brand new identity; go to the word Entourage in
the menu and choose switch identity. It will bring you to a window where you
can create a brand new identity and setup the account in the new identity,
maybe just the Mobile Me account and see if it has the same behaviour.

Okay, I'll give it a go and report back in a few days. Incidentally, I have noticed that when I drag the deleted mails out of the trash, back into my Inbox, they appear back in the trash about 5 minutes later.

Very strange.

Didn't have to wait days. First email I got after creating a new identity went straight into the trash. It's weird that it only seems to be happening for certain senders (as if there is a rule being applied somewhere). I checking Mailing List Manager, Rules and even Junk Mail. They are all blank or turned off.

More wackiness...
Since switching identities I am persistently getting the 'Junk E-mail Found' notification. This is bizarre to me given that I have disabled Junk Mail protection. I keep having the same (valid) emails transferred to my Junk Mail folder. I drag them out and 2 minutes later I get the notification and the mails are back in my Junk Mail folder.

This is becoming a nightmare.

Did you check Mobile Me; there may be a Spam or Junk filter turned on for
the account online.
Entourage is the only e-mail client connecting?
If so, just for testing set it up in Apple Mail and see if the same thing is
happening. Keep Entourage turned off when testing with Apple Mail.

Yes Entourage is the only client connecting so unless there are some settings being applied on the MobileMe webmail page I'm somewhat at a loss.
Maybe I will go back to Apple Mail as you suggest.
