Entourage address book

T

Tim Richards

I am trying to export my address book from Outlook Express (v 5.02 on Mac OS
9.1) to MS Entourage 2004 (v 11.3.6, on another computer running OSX
Leopard).

When I go to File ŒExport Contacts¹ it start the process but OE then
crashes straight away every time. It does create a ŒContacts Export¹ folder
on my hard disc, but this only has details of the first few contacts in it.
What can I do?

Please help! I have already posted this query on the Microsoft Œother
products¹ newsgroup (on 17 September) but it doesn¹t seem very active and I
haven¹t yet received any response,

Thanks,
Tim

Can you drag your contacts in OE to the desktop as individual files? Have
you tried dragging the OE Identity folder to the Microsoft User Data folder
on the computer running Leopard and see if Entourage can import?

You can have more than one Identity folder in Entourage: eg

OE Identities (not sure this is exactly the name)
Office 2001 Identities folder
Office X Identities folder
Office 2004 Identities folder

One good work around is to import using the Apple mail program. Then import
into Entourage. Apple seems happy to import from anywhere including older
applications like Outlook Express Classic.

Please note these newsgroups are not active. DO NOT POST on these groups. It
seems newsgroups never die.

microsoft.public.office.mac.entourage
microsoft.public.office.mac.

You only want newsgroups that start with:

microsoft.public.mac.office

Hope this helps!
