Entourage and Database Utility

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop My Entourage program indicated that the database needed to be rebuilt. Database Utility successfully rebuild theEntourage database but every time it completed the exercise, Database Utility would request that the process be repeated. I have now repeated this at least six times! In addition, the option of setting database preferences could not be activated. In order to address this headache, I have also deleted the Microsoft references in the Library Preferences (and with that lost my well established customs dictionary). Regrettably, this has not produced the desired results. Any suggestions on how this problem can be rectified?

It could be that one of the related preference files is corrupted and
triggering this. Try trashing the database preference files and reboot
(to make sure everything properly quits and stops using the pref file).

Its always good to have a backup. Its a know fact that DB rebuild is
very iffy at best. It doesn't always work. This is confirmed with
Microsoft.

Thanks for your advice but I am afraid the problem persists. Any additional ideas on how to rectify this?

Find the original database by checking date created and date modified. If you have a larger hd you might be able to rebuild. I have a 500GB free drive to rebuild client’s databases. I’ve had great success rebuilding.

A third party option to recover mail only is EmailChemy. It can get messages out of corrupted databases.

BTW, what size is the database?
