Entourage and Explorer keep crashing

Dear sir/madam

I have two problems that i have so far been unable to resolve. Firstly
whenever i try to open Internet Explorer the program reports "The
application Explorer has unexpectedly quit. The system and other
applications have not been affected." every time, it will not open even
after installing the update to 5.2.3

Secondly, Entourage X keeps reporting the same message, but it will
open and everything appears normal until I try to read particular e-
mails whereupon it will give me the same message.

I have looked through support groups and tried installing all the
available updates but the problems still remain.

I sincerely appreciate any help you can give me, as I really need to use
Entourage in particular.

Yours sincerely,
Mr Tamer Akeil

It sounds like the Internet Explorer preferences are corrupt. Drag
Macintosh HD/Users/<Your
User>/Library/Preferences/com.apple.internetconfig.plist and
com.microsoft.explorer.plist to the Desktop. Re-launch Internet Explorer
and see if it crashes. If it still does, move the Internet Preferences
files back. If it does not, you can trash the Internet Preferences files.
Note that after doing so you will have to correct the settings in the
Internet pane of System Preferences.

If that does not fix it, try repairing permissions.
For OS 10.2/10.3:
Go to Macintosh HD/Applications/Utilities. Open up Disk Utility. Select
your hard disk, then click the First Aid tab. Click the button to "Repair
Disk Permissions".

For OS 10.1.5:
Download the Repair Privileges utility, free from Apple, and run it:

Run Disk First Aid. Instructions on how to run it in OS X are located on
the Apple Knowledge Base.
