Entourage and .Mac Aliases

I'm wondering if its possible to create an AppleScript that would
change the name of my return address in Entourage's Accounts to match
that of my aliases in .Mac. I have 4 aliases. It is easy to choose an
alias in mail.app but there is no way to do this in Entourage other
than going into accounts and changing the name of the return address. I
was thinking an AppleScript might automate this. But I don't want to
attempt it if its impossible. Anyone have any ideas.

Thanks

Hi Kerry!

It's possible to set up "four accounts" all with the same .Mac
information except for the return address. This way as you compose your
message you can select which .Mac alias is sending the message from the
"From:" drop down menu.

An added bonus is that because Entourage is treating these as separate
accounts you can also create custom signatures as well for each.

Be sure to set up your alias accounts as POP accounts regardless of
whether or not your .Mac account is POP or IMAP. If your .Mac account is
IMAP, this will keep extra mail folders from appearing in your folder
list.

And for each alias account deselect the option 'Include this account in
my "Send & Receive All" schedule.' No need to check your one account
multiple times.

Hope this helps! bill

Thanks for the info. So if I understand you correctly I would create an
individual POP account for each aliase. I would check my mail in my
regular account, which is IMAP. However, when I go to reply, how do I
choose the different account to reply from.

I was almost thinking that an AppleScript might accomplish this but
AppleScript seems quite complex.

That should work.
However, when I go to reply, how do I

If you have multiple e-mail accounts set up, there should be a pop-up
immediately above the "To" line in the draft message window that allows you
to select the e-mail account to send from.

I would think it would be possible to have an AppleScript that would reply
and set the account to the one with the e-mail address the message was
addressed to in the To or Cc header if the account is set up in Entourage,
but I'm not finding one already written, unfortunately.

Take a look at Reply Rerouted Account X and see if it can do it. (I haven't
read this thread carefully enough, but I think this script may apply here.)
