Entourage and PGP Problem

K

Keith Bechard

I have the following situation. I am working on a project where all
communication must be done using a secure mechanism. The project has chosen
to use PGP (currently using v9.0.6). Most people on the project are using
Windows and Outlook, but I am using a Mac and Entourage.

The problem is this - when I send PGP encrypted email, about 80% of the
people receive it OK. That is, the mail text and any attachments are
automatically decrypted and readable in Outlook. However, the other 20% get
the following message:

This message is in MIME format. Since your mail reader does not understand
this format, some or all of this message may not be legible.

--B_3236667341_5524603
Content-type: text/plain;
charset="US-ASCII"
Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit

We have tried everything to resolve this problem with no luck. Any
suggestions?

Thanks,
Keith

I'm new to Mac's but old to PC's and have just rolled out PGP company-wide.

PGP works quite well with Outlook but if your users are using Microsoft Word
as their e-mail editor (as most in my company do), this causes problems like
the one you're experiencing. They need to use either HTML, RTF or plain-text
rather than Word format for email.

Hope this helps.

David.
