Entourage as a contact manager

Since moving to a mac from a pc, I have had trouble finding a contact manager to take the place of ACT, which doesn't have a Mac program. Can I use Entourage as my ACT replacement? I have about 1,000 clients and need to keep them all up to date.
Thanks

I'm not familiar with ACT. Can you explain the functions and we will be
better able to tell you if Entourage will work for you.

I can let you know that I was a big ACT fan up until it locked me out of my
database a few years ago... Its a fantastic program... I don't see that
entourage could come close to that level of contact management in my
opinion...(especially when you consider the integration of calendar, notes
phone calls and faxes all linked together). Sorry I don't know of a Mac
compliant replacement - but if you find one I would love to know about it :D

You might like Palm Desktop. It has 4 integrated modules: Datebook,
Addresses, Memos, and To Dos.

It comes in different versions, depending on the Palm handheld you want to
use it with. But if you don't have a Palm handheld, it shouldn't matter
which version you get...they all work with your Mac as a standalone
application. All you need to do is select a version that's compatible with
your Mac.

Here is where you can get it:

I would say if you're thinking of using the Palm apps, use the Apple
apps. The Palm apps are very dated on the Mac. But, they are in no way
a replacement for ACT. ACT is really almost a Customer Relations
Manager tool - more than a PIM. Entourage, to a degree can emulate
this functionality. The only thing I can think of though on the Mac
that might come close to this is Daylite and Contactizer Pro both of
which are Contact Relations Managers and neither of which is
inexpensive - your choice of any depends on your needs, the way you
like to interact with your system etc. Be aware though that Entourage
has a number of buggy issues. I can't answer whether the other two I
mentioned do. The though are closer to ACT in terms of what they are
attempting to accomplish and their class as an application category.

Check out bento. It will work much better as a contact management program than Entourage. And it will synch with it (Through address book). The only problem I find it that custom fields in Bento don't flow over to Address book or Entourage. (If they did, it would be perfect)
