At school I can only access Usenet via the web, but off campus at WIFI Hotspots
I can access Usenet via a real client.

Tell me. What has changed since MS Outlook Express for Mac OS 8.5 in this
regard.

I can't begin to tell you what has changed since that was soooo long
ago. Try Entourage and see what you think.

I personally can not stand Entourage as a newsreader because of its
lacking of indented message threading. My choice is the free Thunderbird
client from Mozilla.

Newsgroups protocol hasn't changed. Please stick to plain text, no
attachments, stay relative to the topic of the group, don't hijack
threads with your own questions, etc. The age-old argument about top vs.
bottom posting still exists. Even mentioning it like I'm doing is sure
to stir up debate. Oh, yeah, and don't troll. ;-)

I got chewed out before as being rude and such because of client limitations
or restrictions.

I used a client once (my only access to Usenet at the time, as this was long
before Google groups) that used the <<text reply>> instead of the normal
<text reply>.
