Entourage attachments not saved when edited

I am using Entourage 2008 which connects to my company's Exchange Server 2003 via Outlook Web Access. It is very convenient and works well. However, I have a niggling problem.

I am regularly sent e-mails with attachments, mostly Word documents or Excel spreadsheets. I often open these attachments and make changes and then want to save the file replacing the original attachment.

Currently, I can open the attachment, edit it and when I exit, the program prompts me to save the file. I select "save" and everything seems to work fine.

However, when I re-open the attachment, none of the changes have been saved.

I'm presuming that this is the result of more robust version control than occurs with Outlook, but where is my edited version of the file being saved? Or hasn't it actually been saved at all?

Any ideas?

Thanks, Brian

Hi Brian!

Editing messages as they reside on an Exchange Server is not supported
in Entourage. What you are saving is going to the /tmp folder and is
getting cleaned out when you log out of your Mac or restart.

Please be sure to let Microsoft know you'd like to see this feature in
future versions by using the Help --> Send Feedback mechanism in any
Office application.

Hope this helps!

Thanks Bill - that explains what's happening but I'll certainly be sending feedback to Microsoft as you suggest; the current arrangement is positively unhelpful.

Thanks, Brian
