Entourage Calendar not syncing with Exchange (Outlook)

Processor: Intel
Email Client: Exchange

Among the various shortcomings of Entourage (compared to Outlook) is the Calendar. It seems the only way to get something on the Entourage Calendar is to put it there directly or to receive and "Invitation" to an event. Furthermore, if I add something to the Entourage Calendar without sending an invite to myself it doesn't show up in Outlook. I have an iPhone which works very nicely with Exchange. But even there if I add and event on my iPhone it only shows up in Outlook and NOT in Entourage. I work as a Mac Tech at a school and all of my Mac users are very unhappy with Entourage and mostly use the WebMail interface.
It would seem that Microsoft ( or Apple) would see this as a PRIORITY and get this (and other) problem fixed. ASAP

How else do you want to get events in the calendar?

I'm not sure your calendar is properly setup in ENtourage. Check the
Free/busy setting,

Are you sure you're looking at your Exchange Calender and not the
Calendar under "On My Computer"?

I have the same problem as in Exchange seem to do a different job of updating Outlook verses Entourage depending on 'how' you add the entry and from 'where'.

It is a shame that the Calendar function and updates are more reliable using Outlook.

It would be refreshing to see Apple and Microsoft solve this issue.

I have sort of the same issue. For example, I received a meeting
update this morning to change the time of a meeting scheduled for next
Tuesday. It updates normally in Outlook, but the meeting has
disappeared from Entourage. It's as if the update triggered a deletion
of the original meeting, but the update was ignored (only in
Entourage, in Outlook it appears as it should). All the other meetings
appear fine, it just seems that every once and a while, Entourage
"loses" some exchange data.

glad to see I am not alone
sad to see no-one has an answer to this
my entourage includes nothing (it did and then it stopped syncing) mail works fin, it's just the calendar - and yes I am looking in the right place

I also can report this problem.

I sometimes have to create an outlook calendar entry via parallels since entourage does not support ressources and my companies conference rooms have to be booked as a resource.

I think since 12.1.4 I can not find my outlook created entries in entourage anymore, while there are in outlook.

Somehow there is a sync problem depending where your entry is coming from, phone, entourage, outlook or as an invitation via exchange.

so how do we get a response from Microsoft to an issue that many seem to have - I paid for this product - does anyone from MS read these posts (or care)?

You're not talking to Microsoft here. This is a peer-to-peer newsgroup
where Entourage users help each other.

You can contact Microsoft by using the Help --> Send Feedback mechanism
in any Office application.

Boy, I'm glad I found this thread. I have the same problem. I can't get the calendar on my computer to synchronize with the calendar on exchange. Its pretty clear that this is a chronic problem with Entourage.

Well it's not a systematic problem. It works for me. Is you address book
synching?? If not I suspect that the free/busy server is not setup
correctly for your acount.

I have noticed that when I add an event to my Exchange calendar using
Outlook, it doesn't appear on my Exchange calendar when viewed with
Entourage. The only events that appear to be synchronizing are meetings to
which I have been sent an invitation (and then accepted).

What's more, if I accept a meeting invitation from Entourage, it causes two
copies of the meeting to appear on my Exchange calendar when viewed with
Outlook -- one accepted, and the other tentative.

What is the free/busy server, and how can I check its configuration (or how
do I ask our administrator to check it)?

Please help avoid confusion.

If you have an answer or comment for the original poster then please
respond within his or her thread. Otherwise, if you're looking for a
solution to your own problem -- no matter how similar to someone else's
-- then begin your own thread. Similar problems may not have the same
solutions.

The free busy server is the same thing as the public folders server. It
tracks the availability of folks for meetings. I'm not sure why
Corentin's asking about this in relation to your address book but he may
have a reason.

If this doesn't answer your question then begin a new thread with
details of your own problem, include your software versions and what
you've tried already to fix the problem.
