Entourage causing Account to be locked With Exchange 2003

I have a new Macbook pro and it is running entourage 2008 and is used
to connect to my companys MS Exchange 2003 server. I'm experience
problems where Entourage says it cannot connect and displays a
dialogue to enter a password. At this point checking the users account
details in active Directory, the users account is locked out. Once
it's unlocked, I can reconnect successfully, and then a few minutes
later is gets locked out.

I had out IT administrator monitor the security logs on the Server to
see what was happening with entourage connecting to the Exchange
server and it appears that it was making multiple connections within a
very short period of time i.e. secs.

Our IT administrator thinks that the system is seeing these multiple
attempts as a security issue and is locking the account out even
though the credentials are correct. We are no trying to work out why
and what settings can be changed to stop the multiple logins.

I've tried most things suggested which I've found on the web, but none
of them make any difference. Kerobos is not enabled in Entourage and
when it is it won't connect as I don't think the MS exchange server is
configured to use it.

I've read lost of posts about this with entourage 2004 but I can't
find anything that definitively explains what the problems is and how
to fix it.

Does anybody has any ideas on what to try to fix this issue?

Out of curiosity, is Entourage connected to a front-end Outlook Web
Access (OWA) server address or are you using a back-end address that
points the user directly to the server where his account resides?

If you're pointing him to an OWA address, then does he have to go
through a proxy server to access the server? Does it require
authentication too?

If you switch the server address from one to the other, does that make a
difference?

Entourage has no configurable settings for how it authenticates. You
either have the correct user information or not. Nothing else is
available to change.

Bill I connect via a vpn to the company network, but the exchange
server address in Entourage is using the web URL and not the IP or
machine name. I might try the IP address and see if this makes a
difference.
