Similar issues are happening when Safari downloads the new .docx files.

I suggest you first right-click the attachment and "compress" the file
into a .zip file. Then send the .zip file.

Hope this helps!

No, actually that doesn't help. My problem is that when a friend sends me an email, with a Word document attached, Entourage changes the .doc to a .dat file extension which I can't open. Or at least I don't know how to do that. Why does this have to be so complicated? I guess I shouldn't have bought the Microsoft product, and just stuck with the Apple products...

Robin,

From what I can tell, you are not the original poster. The OP asked,
"How can *I* get it to forward attachments without changing the
extension?" Your problem is that you're *receiving* the .dat file.

My reply to the OP may not help *you* because your problem is different.

Please, always begin a new thread for your own problems. Jumping in the
middle of someone else's thread with your own problem/question can lead
to confusion and that's not fair to the person who started the thread
looking for his own solution.

To try and answer your question: If you're receiving a .dat file then I
will guess that you're receiving a "winmail.dat" file. For more
information about winmail.dat files, please have a look at this item on
The Entourage Help Page
<http://www.entourage.mvps.org/faq_topic/attachments.html#att7>.

Hope this helps!
