Entourage Closes

Hi All,

Here's a strange one. One of my users uses Entourage on her MAC laptop 24/7.
She never shuts down her laptop nor closes Entourage. The laptop goes into
screensaver mode after a period of inactivity and eventually to sleep mode.
Her uses her Entourage throughout the entire day until she retired for the
evening. When she wakes up the next morning to check her emails, Entourage
closed itself out. She has to launch it again every morning. All other open
applications remained opened and did not have to re-launched. I am a PC guy
so I am utterly baffled. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm not sure what causes this, but waking from sleep can be problematic (in
my experience even more in Windows than Mac, although it has happened to me
on both).

Personally, I recommend shutting down at night and restarting in the
morning, especially on laptops. Use the Energy Saver panel in System
Preferences to shut the machine down each evening and restart it the next
morning. Put Entourage in the Login Items for her using the Accounts panel
of System Preferences.

Then each morning when she starts up, the machine will have launched
Entourage and downloaded all her fresh mail. And she'll have saved the
electricity that the machine would otherwise have used in sleep mode.

There is some application that runs a schedule that quits applications.

It's probably not a bad thing this happened. If there is backup during the
night and Entourage is open the backup could be corrupted.

Quit all Microsoft applications before backing up
