Entourage Compression Grayed out 10.4.8

I'm trying to compress my attachments using the inbuilt stuffit in
Entourage. I've been into Mail & News Prefs and correctly configured
the settings - however the Macintosh (Stuffit) button is still grayed
out.

Help!

It's driving me nuts.. as I'm sure I've had it working before..
