Entourage Conduit for Treo

I recently upgraded to Office:mac 2008 and my Treo no longer syncs with entourage because it says the identity is open in another office application so the entourage conduit failed. I did migrate the 2004 identity to the 08 entourage. Is there a new conduit that I need?

Nope. No new conduit for 2008. All syncing to Palm devices is now
expected to be done under iSync using Sync Services.

There are many of us out here that are waiting to find out more
details on this solution. For now, it's best to continue to sync
under Entourage 2004.

I have had no problem with synching, except that every synch results in a duplication of an entry. So the further forward you jump in the calendar the more duplicates you have. These are duplicated on both the Mac and the Treo. Some are now 50 items in depth!! As you can't delete more than one date entry at a time, it is really annoying. The switch to a Treo 755 occurred at the same time as the switch to Leopard so who knows what is at fault. Any others with this problem or at least a solution?

Are you able to sync both ways (Entourage 2008 <-> Treo )? If you add
something on your Treo, does it show up under Entourage 2008?

Are they recurring events??

Marty: I am still in the last version of Office not 2008. But it works both ways

Corentin. Its normally not a discrete event but a recurring event.

So is it an all day event?? THese are the tw situations where I've seen
duplications.
To sort them out, I always carefully assign a category to all my events.
SInce categories don't sync, they are lost in duplicates. All I have to
do then is to create a custom view for all my events and sort them by
categories to figure out what needs to be deleted.
It's a pain, but at least I have an easy way to clean up the mess,

Gotcha. I am sticking with 2004 for the time being, until I can feel
comfortable with a workable syncing solution for 2008.

OK, so does that mean I need to reinstall Entourage (or the entire office suite) 2004? and how do I tell the computer to pull info from Entourage 08 to Entourage 04?

Thanks to Marty and Corentin. It is unfortunate that later products on the Mac and Palm side add problems as well as eliminate problems.

Applications don¹t have the ability to revert to an older version. Just
think about it for a minute. How would 2004 know what to do with 2008 when
it wasn¹t available when it was released.

You can manually move your mail back. Hopefully, you still have your old
2004 Identity so you only have to move your new mail back.

Drag folders to the desktop as MBOX files. These can be dragged into most
email applications. You can also Export as .rge files. Entourage 2004 can
recognize these. Entourage X cannot.

I'm sorry, but I need further assistance. When I try to open Entourage 2004 it says "this identity cannot be opened with this version of entourage" (even though I've closed 2008). Can someone walk me through this as I'm technically challenged. Do I need to uninstall Entourage 2008 in order for this to work?

Are you trying to open your Entourage 2008 identity with Entourage 2004?
If so, that won't work. You'll need to a copy of your database before it
was upgraded. Your old database was not deleted. You'll find it in
/Users/<your user folder>/Documents/Microsoft User Data/Office 2004
Identities.

Hope this helps!

Where does one go to download this mysterious Entourage Conduit for Office 2004? They say it's in the additional tools folder on my disk, but that doesn't exist. I just want a download link and I can die happy.

It's not in the Additional Tools foler on the disk. It's in the
Additional Tools folder in the Microsoft Office 2004 folder on your
computer.

Is Microsoft in the process of creating an Entourage conduit for Treo for Office '08?

If they are then only they know it. However, they've publicly stated
that Apple's Sync Services are now their official method for all syncing
with Entourage 2008.

While Palm did provide conduits for Outlook for Windows, it never made
them for Entourage for Mac and this left the MacBU (Macintosh Business
Unit at Microsoft) responsible for syncing options. They developed a
conduit for Entourage 2004 when nothing else was available but decided
to use Apple's newer built-in Sync Services for Entourage 2008.

Hope this helps!
