Entourage crashes when opening

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)
Processor: Intel
Email Client: pop

I have had a problem with Entourage crashing while retrieving messages. I disabled the send/receive with the shift key. Then I followed directions from this forum to gain access online and delete messages from server.
Now when I launch Entourage it begins to list messages (preview pane is closed). When it begins to list messages from yesterday, it crashes every time.
Please advise. Tanks.

Did you use online access or did you view your account with your web
browser? It still sounds like a bad message. I would look there first.

If it is not a corrupt message, try the following to identify where the
problem is located.

Steps to help determine where the problem is located.

1) you can eliminate your Identity by creating a new Identity in Entourage
and see if you experience the same problem.

2) if a new Identity still exhibits the same issues, then create a new User
in System Preferences and test Entourage there.

3) If the problems still exist in the new User, it's a problem with your
Office install or your base OS files. If running the Apple combo does not
fix, then you might need to do an "Archive & Install".
